Mesh Dresses!

The Marketplace has a great selection of high-quality, cute and quirky mesh dresses for you to choose from, all at 0L. A relatively new store for great flexi hair has also opened up on the Marketplace, called Alli&Ali. It has a wide variety of nice hair that go really well with formal attire. The look I designed for this shoot is a mix and match of various free items found both in-world and on the Marketplace. My skin is the June group gift from Curves found in-world but the shape is on the Marketplace, called Tansy Tulip by Magic Avi (it's a petite). The hair is from A&A called Yvgenia and the heels are by S@ssy from their complete avatar Jasmine, which you can find in-world. All the dresses I found on the Marketplace.

Summertime!

Well, summer is here, and although I burn up in the sun in real life, I can enjoy it all I want in-world. As with all my avatars, this one is absolutely, positively free, including the awesome hair I'm wearing! I found this lovely little beach called Euphoria Beach, and thought it would be a great spot to post this great-looking getup I devised. The shape is by Hush for its June group gift and it comes with a big pack of skins! Time is running out for you to go and grab this gift but I absolutely love Hush so I will be posting future gifts as well. The hair is by Amacci and is called Adena and comes in a nice variety of shades. I found a nice little boutique called OYeah! and the current group gift is a bathing suit that comes with shades and the body oil I'm wearing. The sandals I found on the Marketplace.

Style ideas: marketplace issue

The Marketplace is great if you actually have Lindens, but unfortunately it is really limited with freebies because nobody ever updates and expects you to go in-world for the group gifts. If you go there to search for anything other than clothes (there happens to be a few places which now have great, high-quality mesh items listed under the tag "wearable demo"), you end up with pages and pages of stuff that are straight from the freebie dungeons, or group gifts from 2012 that everyone has probably seen already. That's where I come in. If you want something other than a freebie barbie look, talk to me! Usually, if you search for free hair or dress or whatever the same, most popular items come up over and over again under different sellers. I am trying my darndest to find the "underground" designers with good stuff that nobody knows about yet, or combine these popular items in original ways.

I'm really proud of this look I made. Tuty's on the Marketplace has several very natural-looking skins, one of which, "Nadia", is very hard to find hair for if you're going with the natural option. The shape is from the store By Snow and the hair is called "Maria", found in Edelstore. The outfit is from American Bazaar and the heels are by Sassy! in-world at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sassy/55/60/33 in the complete avatar kit called Jasmine.

This look is based off Tuty's skin called "Josie". The shape is called Tigerlilly, the hair is called "Maddy" and the dress is from ALB listed under Wearable Demo.

This scary punk diva look was inspired by the awesome mesh dress I'm wearing by Corvus on the Marketplace. They have several dresses there that are excellent quality and absolutely 0L! The skin is Tuty's Josie in the "Dark" makeup tone (the free pack comes with lots of different kinds of makeup); the shape is Diva from By Snow, the shoes are by Plausible Body (with the best free latex outfits I have ever seen), and the hair is found in-world at BLACK MARIA as a group gift. Again, all groups I post cost nothing to join, because (in my opinion) it's not free if you are paying to get in!

That's all for tonight, folks! And forgive my photography skills...I've never actually attempted Second Life photography before now.

Love,

Carrie

Cosplay Issue #1

I really don't know why there aren't more cosplay posts. I mean cosplay is huge in Second Life! Everyone wants to be a demon or a slutty looking angel or catgirl or bipedal pony or whatever the hell you can't be in real life. If you want to be a unicorn but can't because you're broke like a lot of SL players, I am here to help you be that unicorn. If  you are a fellow Brony (I'm a 24 year old girl IRL so it's ok for me to like the show--if you're THAT judgemental) I'll be putting together pegasi and unicorn/alicorn sets that you can IM me about. By the way, this blog here isn't about judging or hating, it's about free costumes and outfits for people like me who can't stand being just a human barbie in a digital game where possibilities are limitless. So if you've come here to judge, and want to tell me about my taste personally--you WILL be blocked. You have been warned. But for people with universal minds, here's a couple cosplay ideas to start you out.

#1: Hatsune Miku

Hatsune Miku is a Japanese anime character hologram designed to perform concerts with a set of pipes that she uses to sing notes higher than any female singer can reach. Here is an HD performance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uOmQmM1mg4 , and here is my original costume idea for your cosplay needs:

If you are a Hatsune Miku enthusiast and have any costume suggestions for me, feel free to IM me inworld (Carynth Resident)! This is just a starter pack, all found on the Marketplace.

Hatsune Miku mesh hair by [MP]
  • Alice skin and shape by Heaven's Skin and Shape
  • Mesh dress by ShuShu (under wearable demo)
  • Curious Kitties' stockings and Mary Janes
#2: Chii-chan from Chobits

Unfortunately there are no free Chii ears on the Marketplace, so I'll have to hunt forever in-world to find them. In the meantime I have substituted her robot ears with a pair of large neko ears that I shrunk down and   rotated to fit over my ears instead of on top of my head. I must say they do look a lot like Persocom ears.

  • Maid outfit from Plausible Body
  • Ears called Big Ears by Paws
  • Mesh hair from [MP]
  • Hovering animation by Su Voir and MrS

Happy shopping!

Gothic Obsession

Goth is a big thing on Second Life, so one of my goals is to provide you with good-looking free goth clothes.  Goth clothes used to be (at least for me) hard to find on the cheap side both in real life and Second Life. There are more freebies now though since everyone's been experimenting with mesh and Second Life is turning 10 (isn't that weird?). The freebie store by Lapointe and Bastchild is a relic nowadays but I have a few dresses from there that don't look too outdated when you pair it with a good-quality skin. I have on here a few mesh items from the marketplace as well, and will be posting more goth/alternative/weird clothes as I go, for I am a fashion monster at heart and want to share all the styles as well as casual/norm.

Pardon the low quality of some of these pics--I am not the best at photography yet. This picture includes:

Welcome

This is me, Carrie (Carynth Resident). My good-looking appearance is the result of hours of trying to find the  best freebies in SL. Yes, ALL of this is free, from the shoes to the skin to the hair, eyes, lashes and dress and even the groups they all came from. For that's my goal: to provide a blog where the items I show are not 10L, not 5L, not 1L but 0L, always--and that means everything on the avatar is free. Because free means 0 lindens, not 1! I know there are a lot of so-called freebie blogs that show a great outfit but the dress or hair or whatever is 100 Lindens and the shoes are 1 linden and that probably disappoints newbie avatars who got a free account and have no experience in making any amount of game money, and are probably too impatient to camp it out. That's why I'm here, the Freebie Diva--to show you newbies or even experienced freebie hunters how you can create a totally unique avatar with the right stores.

So, without further ado, here's what I'm wearing!

  • The Rockin' Dress from Sassy! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sassy/55/60/33
  • Jasmine Shape, Shoes and Hair from Sassy! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sassy/55/60/33
  • Tuty's Elite Sexy AO from the Marketplace

And here's a close-up of my skin as well as my eyes, earrings and prim lashes and a nice mesh dress for those Lolas!

  • NVious group gift here http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Flawless/77/33/22
  • Dress: MoiMoi mesh gift on the Marketplace
  • Lashes: TGIS Ultra-Long Eyelashes on the Marketplace
  • Eyes: AG shine eyes on the Marketplace
  • Earrings: Sn@tch

Here I am sitting on my lovely free loveseat from Pickles on the Marketplace. Pickles has an entire Valentine's day set of furniture for free, with texture changing options!

What I'm wearing:

  • Group Gift from Barely Legal Couture http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Twilight%20Desires/227/61/33
  • Lingerie free gift from Koko's Closet on the Marketplace
